Aryavart Gramin Bank is first bank in India to avail benefits of Carbon Credit

In order to expand and sustain clean energy through clean development mechanism (CDM) and to avail benefit of carbon credits, the Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a U.S.A. based corporation to work together for mutually beneficial purpose of sourcing and selling Voluntary Emission Reduction (VER) Carbon Credits. Scope of the Project will include all lending for solar products by the Bank during the project term of Six years. The Bank will use the proceeds from the credits for market development activities with the goal of expanding and sustaining the local market for clean energy, inter alia establishing service centres, providing partial employment to rural youth by imparting training and providing toolkit for maintenance and repair of Solar Home Lighting Systems financed by the bank.
 
 
         
  31st March 2010: First two branches of the bank, viz., Lucknow main (Nirala Nagar) and Banthra migrated to Core Banking platform.    
  17th Dec 2009: New branch opened at Buxi Ka Talab, Lucknow district    
  09th Nov 2009: Sri Alok Kumar Misra, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Bank of India visited our Head Office on 09-11-2009. He congratulated all staff members for winning India Power Award 2009 in Innovative Financing category. He encouraged them to continue the good work to become number one RRB in the country. He emphasised that India will see increased investment in rural sector in coming years and RRB will play an important role in the rural development.

 

   
  04th Nov 2009: Sri Charan Singh, DGM, Bank of India has joined as Chairman of Aryavart Gramin Bank replacing Sri N.C. Khulbe who has been transferred to Head Office, Bank of India.

 

   
  07th June 2009:

Sri U.C. Sarangi, Chairman, NABARD visited Gondwa branch of Aryavart Gramin Bank (AGB) in Hardoi district. He was accompanied by Sri D.P. Misra, CGM, NABARD, U.P. Region. The visit was intended to see the exceptional work done by Aryavart Gramin Bank in financing Solar Home Lighting System (SHLS), mainly in Bhamrauli village where 100% households have been financed for SHLSs by AGB.

 
  24th April 2009:

 

New branch opened at Kalyanpur, Lucknow District.  
 

28th March 2009:

 

Shri M. Narendra, Executive Director, Bank of India and Shri A.P.Ghugal, General Manager, Bank of India visited our Head Office at Lucknow.

Shri M. Narendra inaugurated the system of video conferencing in the bank at Head Office. Shri M. Narendra & Shri Ghugal interacted with Senior Managers posted at Regional Office Kannauj and Hardoi through Video Conferencing.

Thereafter, Shri Narendra and Shri Ghugal participated in a big credit camp oraganised at Barabanki Regional Office. In the camp 35 tractor loans, 4 truck loans, and 1200 loans  for purchase of Solar Home Lighting Systems were disbursed. In the camp Shri Narendra and Shri Ghugal addressed the customers and villagers.

Synergies developed by the Bank

  • Tie-up with ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd. for distribution of their Life Insurance and pension products on Referral basis.
  • Scheme of financing for Solar Home Lighting System in association with TATA BP Solar and through business facilitators. Aims at bringing electricity in 25000 rural households having erratic or no power supply by October 2008. The Bank has so far lit up 8800 plus households through Solar Home Lighting Systems.
  • TATA BP Solar has installed solar power packs in 7 of our branches. With success of this pilot launch, Banks aims at pursuing solar energy alternative for more 100 branches for running power equipments like fans, tube lights, computers and computer peripherals, etc. 
  • Tie-up with DSCL Sugar Company Rupapur for providing easy and timely credit to the 15000 farmers associated with the company through our credit product named ‘Aryavart Ganna Card’.
  • Tie-ups with M/s Mahindra and Mahindra, M/s TAFE, M/s Escorts Tractors Ltd. and M/s Sonalika International for boosting Tractor financing to farmers.
  • Tie-up with M/s Hero Honda to finance Hero Honda Motorcycles.
  • Tie-up with M/s Maruti Udyog to finance Maruti cars.
  • The Bank has associated with NABARD to promote Individual Rural Volunteers for formation, promotion, nurturing and linkage of SHGs.
  • The Bank has unique association with basic and college teachers for payment of their salaries. Our loan products like “Annapurna”, a clean credit limit up to Rs.1.5 Lac, have also popularised the Bank among them.
  • Financial inclusion aims at opening of No Frill accounts of non banking families in villages. The Bank has opened 1,88,869 No Frill accounts till 31-03-2008.
